It's INDEPENDENCE DAY!! Week 11 is almost over

Hello Everyone,
Its been a long while since I have blogged,Its INDEPENDENCE DAY, our fore-fathers gave their lives to free this country from Kings and to make this blessed country free from Monarchy rule, thru GOD, men were inspired to write the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the UNITED STATES.  Our Freedoms came with a price from those with the courage to stand. Throughout the years Men and Women have stood for the price of FREEDOM and I personally salute and honor those who have given of their time and the ultimately their lives.   I also honor and salute those families who have had or have a loved one serving for the price of freedom.  May GOD BLESS THE USA, Happy INDEPENCENCE DAY Everyone.
I want to thank each of you on team blue for the sacrifices you make for this challenge, for what ever your reasoning.  We may have never made it to the top of the list as far as points goes, But each of you have inspired me in having the desire to loose weight and to continue to plug along even amidst the trials that stood in my way in trying to meet the goal weight that I set for myself.  I know I have slacked in communication these last 4 weeks and have my own regrets about that.  Thank you for being able to know each and everyone of you, thank you for your inspiring words, knowing I am not alone in my own trials and Thank you for all the encouraging words.  I hope we all push for a strong finish this week  cause in my mind we are alll winners.  If you have shed 1 pound or lost 1 inch you are a better you.  I know I am a better me.  11 weeks ago, I came into this challenge half-heartedly, but about 2 years ago, my daughter and i were going to see who could loose 10 pounds the fastest, I procrastinated and put it off as I knew I could shed weight pretty fast and had alot more that I could loose than her, well it didn't happen, she lost about 15 pounds, and I gained 3..    With this challenge, I believe I could have done better in certain areas.  But because I did not want to let each of you down, I tried.  There were times I got discouraged and wanted to quit, however, I plugged along and today I have lost 20 pounds total, I weigh the same as when I got out of the Marine Corps 18 years ago.  I feel good about myself and Confident that I will be able to keep up the good habits that I have gained during the course of this challenge.  I wish the very best for each of you and for a wonderful finish.  I am planning on running a half marathon someday hopefully with my wife.  Thank you all so much and best of luck.  Don't be strangers when this is all over thanks again GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is everybody?

How is everyone doing. I've noticed since the blog glitch that everyone has seemed to vamos. I hope everyone did well this past week and is looking forward to the challenge this week. I had already started exercising outside with camping with the family on Fri night last week. We went swimming, biking, walking and running. We gathered sticks/logs for our fire and loaded and unloaded our equipment. Had a great relaxing time as well as working hard.

I have noticed in a change of eating habits since starting this challenge for the better. I don't crave 2nd helping anymore. One helping is enough for me. (still working on the pizza part though...but it that less often too). I think overall this challenge has helped me become aware of some of my weaknesses and has helped me to develop good habits. Still have a ways to go, but I am looking forward to continueing with my progress. I still have many things that I struggle with, but I think if I continue with my baby steps, someday I will meet my goal, or at least improve upon where I am now. Good luck to each of you and continue the good work. Go Blue!

Need Help

It's been a long week and I really missed communication with everyone, My indulgence this week was sweets, and I was able to keep that under control to get the points, but after reading Yours I felt I cheated a little as I didn't put alot of thought into the challenge or I may have done as James and removed the feed bag not filling my self to overload.  I know that is not as much a problem when I am on the road however, I usually eat more at home with my wonderful wifes cooking, and I love her home made food, LARGE temptation to eat.  So this week James I am going to remove the feed bag early.   I actually have found that my stomach cannot hold as much food without discomfort.  Therefore Great plan, I will push that more foreward for the rest of this challenge.   Issues this week I am facing is still the salt.  I drink lots of gatorade and eat packaged turkey which has lots of salt.  Peanut butter isn't very healthy either, and the heat is making it more difficult to store large amounts of food with space limitations,      open for suggestions to remove the salt from my diet as I believe with the extensive work load and physical work that I should be dropping weight like crazy.  I know that Im not eating near as much and alot healthier, but something needs to change, I have only lost 16 pounds since this challenge began.  I know cardio is a major part but the long hours makes it tough everyday.    Suggestions welcome, Go Blue.       -    Brad

No Eating Out

What are your plans for managing next weeks challenge?

I am going to be on a trip so it is requiring packing a cooler and bringing along snacks.

New Health Issue

On Wednesday i went into the clinic to have an insulin test. Called my dr. office today and they told me I was mildly (closer to moderately) insulin resistant.
I had a feeling something was going on since I have been exercising and I have been watching what I have been eating, but I have not lost anything. I have to wait for my dr to get off of vacation before I can make a plan with him. This I think has been a very long day. I really hope that I can have the discipline to fix this. I am just really down about this.

As far as the challenge this week. I currently struggle with sweets. My birthday was this week and I had a hard time deciding what to have for a treat. But I settled on angel food cake/ icecream cake. I know that wasn't the best choice, but it is a start. Thats all for now.
